Founded by public figure Kavita Khanna the Kavita and Vinod Khanna Foundation is dedicated to carry forward the remarkable legacy of social work created by her husband, the late Vinod Khanna, legendary actor and four-time Member of India’s Parliament.
The Kavita and Vinod Khanna Foundation is on a mission to create a society where individuals are empowered to be the change they want to see in their world. This mission guides KVKF’s initiatives and programs towards community betterment.
Helping KVKF’s mission for the youth is the Youth Leadership Training Programme (YLTP), of the Art of Living which is for young men and women and is conducted in villages. YLTP embodies the foundation’s belief in the leadership potential of each individual. It empowers young individuals to gain knowledge, and to take responsibility and lead actionable steps for personal growth and community betterment.
With her role as a Trustee of the International Association for Human Values (IAHV) from 2010 till 2023, KVKF Founder Kavita Khanna brings significant experience in fostering socio-economic changes to developmental work through youth volunteers and leaders trained in the YLTP programme. Her leadership aids in further strengthening the impact of YLTP.
An example of the achievements of YLTP is a rural groundwater rejuvenation project in Maharashtra by villagers and leaders trained in the YLTP. This initiative addressed the urgent problem of depleting groundwater levels and drought, while promoting sustainable water management practices—an approach filled with challenges, but impressive in its victories.
In Sochetgarh village, Gurdaspur, Punjab, the Foundation flagged off its local self-development intervention by conducting its first YLTP course. Meetings on the YLTP were held with villagers in several villages, which led to the first course in Sochetgarh. This initiative marked a significant step towards inspiring and empowering the local youth of multiple villages to step up, lead, and make a difference in their communities.
