Founded by public figure Kavita Khanna the Kavita and Vinod Khanna Foundation is dedicated to carry forward the remarkable legacy of social work created by her husband, the late Vinod Khanna, legendary actor and four-time Member of India’s Parliament.

Women’s upliftment

The Kavita and Vinod Khanna Foundation believes in the inherent transformative power of every woman. We are committed to amplify the voices of women, foster their leadership abilities, and support their journey towards realizing their dreams.

Every woman’s story deserves to be heard, and every dream deserves to be nurtured. At KVKF, uplifting women is not just about individual progress, but also about unlocking a collective potential that can significantly transform communities and societies for the better.

The International Women’s Conference: Uniting Women Leaders

A cornerstone of our commitment to women’s upliftment is our association with the International Women’s Conference (IWC), a unique platform hosted and organized by the Art of Living that brings together exceptional women from diverse sectors across the world. Since its inception in 2005, KVKF founder Kavita Khanna has moderated several inaugural and plenary sessions, often serving as conference moderator.

The IWC is more than a conference; it’s a movement that nurtures individual development while promoting collective action. It brings together women from various fields, including politics, arts, business, media, and academia, shining a light on their profound contributions to the world through grassroots activism, entrepreneurship, public policy, and spiritual knowledge.

Development at the village level

Women bring practical and complimentary approaches and interventions in finding solutions, and thus can contribute substantially to developmental discourses. It is important that they have an equal voice in socio-economic issues. An example is the articulation and framing of issues, and interventions that were needed when there were floods in areas of Gurdaspur during the 2023 monsoon. To give women an equal seat at the table, the KVKF will be starting the Women’s Leadership Training Programme shortly.

Our Commitment: From Vision to Action

In her valedictory speech at the “The Butterfly Effect-Everything Matters”, Kavita Khanna emphasized the transition from potential to action: “Each one of us knows what to do. We must now make it happen. We must now move from ‘I can’ to ‘I will’.” This stance encapsulates our foundation’s approach towards women’s upliftment—actively enabling and supporting women to make tangible changes, both in their lives and in the wider community.
